Woman walks out of shower wearing only a towel, drops towel in front of man-we see her upper back and the sides of her breasts. Glimpses of woman in shower, back and shoulders exposed with fuller body shots obscured through glass and curtains. Woman and man fight brutal hand-to-hand battle, the man is killed. Woman accidentally cuts herself on knife blade-blood seen. Woman uses stone pillar to kill stone beast. Woman begins shooting pistols at another large multi-armed statue/beast with swords. Woman fires two semi-automatic pistols at beast. Statues come to life, men and woman shoot at them causing them to crumble. Men break into home to attack woman, beginning an extended sequence where many shots are fired, people fall to floor, others crushed against stone walls, and woman engages in hand-to-hand combat with many of these men. Depictions of dangerous driving on a motorcycle. Woman has nightmare, suddenly awakens and pulls out a knife. Robot with saws and other cutting instruments attempts to attack woman’s neck. Menacing robotic monster attacks woman on several occasions, woman pulls out guns and shoots at it. Unfortunately its heroine, like the videogame character upon which she’s based, is always packing pistols and a litany of other weapons which are used repeatedly throughout the movie without regard for consequences. This slick production boasts gorgeous sets and real world locations providing a feast for the eyes along with an interesting story premise. Why is Lara Croft: Tomb Raider rated PG-13? There was not much question that the actress would eventually gain her Hollywood stardom, but entering the Tomb Raider series is making that come even sooner than most were expecting. She’s also starring in another big blockbuster with this year’s Jason Bourne, the fifth installment of the renowned spy franchise. Vikander’s diverse work speaks for itself, ranging from science-fiction in 2015’s Ex Machina to period romance in the upcoming Tulip Fever. The character could easily become the female equivalent of Indiana Jones, both in terms of personality as well as having the potential to launch another massive franchise. The video games follow Croft as she gets wrapped up in dangerous quests to find ancient tombs and treasures. While Ridley is no doubt a talented actress, Vikander is just as good a choice to play the rugged explorer. But that casting choice was far from finalized, and THR has just reported that Academy Award Winner Alicia Vikander ( The Danish Girl) has officially signed on to play Lara Croft. ![]()
